TrusNewport Visual Arts Center Quilt Showt staff and board have been on the move this past month, spreading the word about year-end giving and 2013 reauthorization of the state’s cultural tax credit so critical to the work that we do.

Trust Manager Kimberly Howard seized on the opportunity to return to Pendleton after her highly successful September trip to Round-Up. On October 26-27, she attended Pendleton Word Round-Up, a book and writer’s fair produced by Libraries of Eastern Oregon (LEO) and granted by the Cultural Trust. In October and November Kimberly also spoke at Wordstock, the Salem Multicultural Ball, Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center’s Gala in Portland, and the Portland Center for the Performing Arts volunteer meeting.

Communications Manager Meryl Lipman was a guest speaker at Silverton Rotary in early October and she spoke to Newport Rotary November 8. While on the central coast, she met with local press, cultural coalition members and OCCA.

On October 24 Trust Board Member and Marketing Committee Chair Lee Weinstein spoke to The Dalles Rotary Club; he is also scheduled to speak to the Rotary Club in Hood River. Finance Committee Chair and Board Secretary Walter Frankel of Corvallis represented the Trust at the Greater Corvallis Rotary October 5, and Special Advisor Virginia Willard of Portland presented the Trust message to the Beaverton Arts Commission on November 14.Thank you to all our board members and special advisors who took the challenge to speak on behalf of the Trust!
